Chicago Public Schools, Office of Specialized Services
Conducted assessment of current data collection and reporting procedures
for the Regional Safe Schools (RSSP) and the Saturday Morning Reach Out
and Teach (SMART) Programs as defined by the RSSP and SMART Logic
Models. The findings and recommendations of the assessment report are
being used by OSS to inform RSSP and SMART data collection, analysis
and reporting procedures related to program inputs, activities, outputs,
short-term outcomes, intermediate outcomes and long term outcomes.
In addition, the recommendations in this report now serve as the foundation
for evaluation of both programs for the 2005-2006 School Year.
Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA), Multicultural Youth
Project (MCYP) -Conducted formative and summative evaluation of an
immigrant youth leadership program that serves the Uptown and Edgewater
communities in Chicago. MCYP is a collaboration of six Mutual Aid
Associations including: Bosnian Herzegovinian American Community
Center, Cambodian Association of Illinois, Centro
Romero (CR), Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA), Ethiopian
Community Association of Chicago (ECAC), and Vietnamese
Association of Illinois (VAI).
Community Technology Centers Network (CTCNet), Connections
for Tomorrow (C4T) - Faclitated Logic Modeling and program evaluation
workshops for community technology centers affiliated with CTCNet’s
Connections for Tomorrow (C4T) program in Chicago. Provided technical
assistance in evaluation planning, instrument construction, data analysis
and report writing for the following CTCs:
- Beyondmedia Education
- Outreach Community Ministries
- Neighborhood Technology Resource Center
Chicago Public Schools – Magnet Cluster Initiative Evaluation
Conducted formative and summative evaluation of the 240 schools in the
Magnet Cluster Initiative (1999 – 2003) including: case studies that
addressed 11 dimensions of implementation, analysis of student
achievement data (standardized test scores, grades, graduation/promotion
rates, etc.), student mobility data, parent and student satisfaction/
dissatisfaction opinions about their school choices, principal and teacher
satisfaction/dissatisfaction opinions about the services provided to them
through the magnet program, and other data drawn from all participating
magnet cluster schools. Methodologies included analysis of quantitative
and qualitative data (i.e., test scores, survey questionnaires, focus groups,
interviews, etc.).
Alternatives, Inc.
Facilitated Logic Model Workshop for community-based technology
training center; developed evaluation plan for computer literacy and
adult-basic education programs; created instruments for data collection
and developed database management system.
Charles Hayes Family Investment Center
Facilitated organizational assessment and strategic planning workshops
during staff retreat; created Logic Model, workplan and timeline for
implementation of the strategic plan.
Community Technology Centers Network (CTCNet)
Facilitated series of staff development workshops on Program Evaluation
and Logic Modeling for staff members of 27 CTCs; provided technical
assistance and onsite training for staff members of the CTCs enrolled in
CTCNet’s Connections for Tomorrow Project (C4T) in the development
of evaluation plans, data collection and analysis, and database management.
Egan Urban Center, DePaul University
Conducted year-long longitudinal study of programs, projects and the
community and institutional impact of EUC over the ten year life of the
Center; wrote and presented comprehensive report of findings and
facilitated strategic planning meetings and workshops.
Government Assistance Program (GAP)
Facilitated Logic Modeling workshop for staff members of Chicago city
agencies such as: Chicago Park District, Chicago Streets and Sanitation,
Metropolitan Water Reclamation, etc.
Illinois Committee for Black Concerns in Higher Education
Facilitated Logic Modeling workshops during annual ICBCHE conferences
attended by administrators and faculty from the Illinois Board of Higher
Education and the public institutions of higher education throughout the
State of Illinois.
Neighborhood Technology Resource Center (NTRC)
Facilitated Logic Model Workshop for community-based technology
training center; developed evaluation plan for computer literacy and
adult-basic education programs; created instruments for data collection
and developed database management system.
Street Level Youth Media
Facilitated Logic Model Workshop for community-based technology
